Peter Brown is President of the New English Art Club and a leading figurative artist. He is best known for his detailed and atmospheric depictions of buildings and street scenes in cities, so Rome greatly appeals to him. Rome is a vibrant city and ‘Pete the Street’ will be capturing the essence of life on the streets, the cobbled alleyways and the bustling café-lined piazzas, as well as the historical landmarks.
Rome’s most famous monuments are located within the Centro Storico, which is traversed by the River Tiber. They include Michelangelo’s spectacular Piazza del Campidoglio, the Roman Forum, the Colosseum and the Terme di Caracalla, most of which are now in splendid ruins. The Pantheon, Bernini’s Fountain of Quattro Fiumi, Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps are close by. The Vatican City lies across the River Tiber and is dominated by the massive dome of the Basilica di San Pietro.
En plein air painting with Peter Brown
